I do hope you are able to enjoy and relax with friends and family over the holiday period.
A big thank-you to clients who have purchased from Glass Galaxy and supported my wee business during 2018. I sincerely appreciate your custom and enjoy meeting and chatting with people at the markets I attend. Markets are so vibrant and busy compared to the solitude and quiet of living in a rural environment as I do.
I am looking forward to 2019 and have plenty of new ideas for Glass Galaxy.
In the meantime, do have a safe and happy festive season.

Mid November - Time to think gifts.]]>Robynhttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/11/13/Mid-November---Time-to-think-giftshttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/11/13/Mid-November---Time-to-think-giftsTue, 13 Nov 2018 07:54:21 +0000
November already and only weeks before Christmas so now is the time to think about those gifts to make Christmas a wonderful event. I have already started putting together a few prezzies myself, ready for the big day. Glass Galaxy jewellery comes in a small gift box, or soft jewellery bag. This makes them perfect for posting, or to pop in your suitcase when travelling.
During the last few weeks I have been in the studio creating a large variety of different styles. Big and bold, small and delicate, shiny and matt. Always I have the next design idea, colours or textures in my mind, so expect some interesting and different jewellery to appear every week at the markets.
The Artisan's Fair Market, on the canopy bridge in Whangarei is where my stall will be nearly every Saturday until after January 2019. Definitely an interesting market, with great music as well.
Enjoy the warmth and summery days,
Robyn

Artisan's Fair Market & The Waipu Street Market - Labour Week-end.]]>Robynhttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/10/13/Artisans-Fair-Market-The-Waipu-Street-Market---Labour-Week-endhttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/10/13/Artisans-Fair-Market-The-Waipu-Street-Market---Labour-Week-endSat, 13 Oct 2018 01:04:47 +0000
At last we have longer days and warmer weather. Along with that is the start of the summer markets around Northland and in particular for Glass Galaxy, the Whangarei area.
Looks like we are going to have a fine Labour week-end and I am looking forward to being at the Artisan's Fair Market on the Canopy bridge in Whangarei on Saturday the 20th October 9am - 1pm. There is plenty happening around the waterfront on Saturday.
Sunday will also be interesting and Glass Galaxy will be in the Celtic Barn at Waipu for the Waipu Annual Street Market. Should be fun at both events, so please do stop by and say hello if you happen to be at either of these events. Great for families.
Hope to see you Saturday on the bridge, or Sunday in Waipu. Have a great long week-end, and enjoy whatever you happen to be doing.

Spring forward fashion]]>Robyn Granthttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/09/28/Spring-forward-fashionhttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/09/28/Spring-forward-fashionFri, 28 Sep 2018 08:23:20 +0000
Daylight saving starts this week-end and with it comes spring fashion and new season colours. Compliment these with glass colours that compliment, and co-ordinate your whole outfit. I am quite pleased with these new yellow pendants and new glass just in to the studio. Some brilliant new colours and more new summery designs emerging soon. Light and summery to suit these longer days.
The Artisan's Fair Market will be starting again in October on the Canopy Bridge in Whangarei so I am building up my inventory for these market days. Stay posted....

Silver and Glass Earrings]]>Robyn Granthttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/08/24/Silver-and-Glass-Earringshttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/08/24/Silver-and-Glass-EarringsFri, 24 Aug 2018 02:07:27 +0000
Silver and glass earrings are a simple and effective way to change your look, day or night and liven up an outfit. Adding quality silver and dichroic glass earrings can make an immediate impact with little effort. Along with 925 silver ear wires and dichroic glass the earrings I have to offer are exclusive and original which is the beauty of purchasing from a small time local artist.
The studio is crammed with new glass, new silver settings and the ideas for new designs are always churning over in my head. So much to do, so little time. At least the days are slowly getting longer and the daylight hours extending. Roll on summer!
Ngunguru Craft & Produce Market on a Sunday is also worth a visit on I will have a stall in the Ngunguru Sports Complex this Sunday the 26th August if you happen to be out that way, this market growing fast.
After attending the Waipu Boutique Sunday Market last month I hope to make this a regular monthly Sunday market. Such a great place Waipu, with plenty happening so I will be out there again on the 9th September.
Kind wishes to you all,
Robyn

Rings, Rings and more Rings.]]>Robynhttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/07/26/Rings-Rings-and-more-Ringshttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/07/26/Rings-Rings-and-more-RingsThu, 26 Jul 2018 04:02:29 +0000
Creating affordable, quality rings has been my aim over the past month or so. Glass Galaxy is primarily about making glass pendants, but a selection of good quality rings and earrings is equally important. These have been made with 925 Silver settings and dichroic glass. I hope you enjoy the new designs up on the website and there are more to see at markets I attend.
Very slowly the days are getting longer, and the night sky over the past few weeks has just been magical and inspirational. Ideas are popping into my head on how to create something new and different. Amongst them are my punk art and skull pendants. Maybe not for everyone, but they are well received all the same. I will put some up on the site next month.
I am looking forward to visiting Waipu to attend the Waipu Boutique Sunday Market at the Coronation Hall, on the main street in Waipu Sunday 12th August 9 - 1pm. If you are in the area, please do come and have a peek.
In the meantime, kindest regards,
Robyn

Rainy Day Blues]]>Robyn Granthttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/06/21/Rainy-Day-Blueshttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/06/21/Rainy-Day-BluesThu, 21 Jun 2018 01:53:37 +0000
Wet and rainy Northland inspired me to make some Rainy Day Blue glass pendants and the result has been very pleasing.
Along with these new transparent blue glass designs are some new etched glass pendants to choose from.
I find it a little amusing that some visitors have been getting rings stuck on their fingers when trying them on at markets. To help get them off easily I have produced a few pots of hand cream and small amount of the cream makes rings easy to remove. The "Serious hand cream" comes in small glass 50g jars and is just great for hard working hands and need a serious hard working cream. Priced at only $8.00 per jar it represents good value as it only requires a dab to get a good covering.
Kind and warm wishes,
Robyn

Pewter - Glass - Silver]]>Robyn Granthttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/05/27/Pewter---Glass---Silverhttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/05/27/Pewter---Glass---SilverSun, 27 May 2018 04:00:45 +0000
Recently I have managed to find lovely pewter and silver settings to produce some new and interesting items using glass. As time goes by there is always something new to try, or discover in the glass art world.
Some of these items I can show here on the website, but many more are available at markets Glass Galaxy attends.
Queens Birthday Weekend is a great opportunity to see these at the Parua Bay Craft & Food Show held at the Parua Bay Community Centre on Monday 4th June. Should be a great day with plenty of arts, crafts, food and entertainment for children as well.

Silver & Glass]]>Robynhttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/04/09/Silver-Glasshttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/04/09/Silver-GlassMon, 09 Apr 2018 05:51:56 +0000
Silver and glass seem to compliment each other very well so here in my studio I have been experimenting with new glass, silver and designs. Deep reds and blues are favourite colours with many of the people I talk to at markets, so recently I have been concentrating on these hues and produced some quality new glass and designs.
As the shorter and cooler days close in new opportunities are available at various markets around Northland. The Old Packhouse Market at 505 Kerikeri Road, Kerikeri is one of my favourites and can be found at either the Saturday or now the new Sunday market. The Glass Galaxy facebook page is a good place to keep track of these. The Ngunguru Craft & Produce Market is held once a month at the Ngunguru Sports Complex which I also attend regularly.
Kind wishes,
Robyn

Autumn Designs]]>Robynhttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/03/18/Autumn-Designshttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/03/18/Autumn-DesignsSat, 17 Mar 2018 23:26:22 +0000
Hard to believe it is autumn as here in Northland, we are still enjoying warm weather and the outdoors. I can see autumn tones starting in a few of the deciduous and this has inspired me to put together some autumn designs.
Actually autumn tones are my personal favourites, with the oranges, timber colours and natures golds.
By far the most popular colours favoured by clients are blues and greens and these are the hues I will continue to produce whatever the season.
With cooler weather many of the outdoor markets are finishing, or moving indoors. The next two Saturdays the 24th and 31st March will be the final two at The Artisan's Fair Market on the canopy bridge in Whangarei until later in the year. Ngunguru Craft Market will continue on once a month and The Old Packhouse in Kerikeri and other markets will continue also.
For anyone wanting to find me, please do just email, or visit the Glass Galaxy Facebook page for details of markets I will be attending.
Kind wishes to you all.

Northland Markets]]>Robynhttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/02/09/Northland-Marketshttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/02/09/Northland-MarketsFri, 09 Feb 2018 02:45:13 +0000
Northland really has many interested markets to visit. My favourites are The Artisan's Fair Market on the canopy bridge in Whangarei, The Old Packhouse Market at 505 Kerikeri Road in Kerikeri and the Ngunguru Craft & Produce Market at the Sports complex in Ngunguru.
I attend these markets regularly depending on the weather especially if the Glass Galaxy Gazebo is set up outside. Maybe with wet weather we will move indoors now and then.
Having managed to source pre-loved jewellery recently I have also started cleaning and or repairing and recycling costume jewellery items. These pieces can be sold at very reasonable prices and most range between $5.00NZD and $20.00NZD. No need to spend a fortune to change and add new looks to your collection. It is a delight to offer and share these bargains.
So, next time you see Glass Galaxy at one of these markets, come and see my selection of hand crafted glass pendants, rings, earrings and also recycled sparkly pieces to liven up your wardrobe.

Happy New Year 2018]]>Robyn Granthttps://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/01/04/Happy-New-Year-2018https://www.glassgalaxy.co.nz/single-post/2018/01/04/Happy-New-Year-2018Wed, 03 Jan 2018 19:12:02 +0000
Wishing good things for everyone during 2018.
Here in Northland, holiday makers, families and tourists come to relax on our beaches and enjoy the summer sun. Part of that includes visiting markets and what a great way to see what Northland has to offer. This year I will continue to create new designs, with fascinating colours, shapes and be artistic and a wee bit outrageous in freeform pendants. New techniques and styles incorporating other media into glass as well.
Enjoy your holidays and times with family and friends. Have fun and if you happen to be in the Whangarei area visiting please do stop in at my Glass Galaxy Gazebo to see my oil paintings, glass jewellery and more. I am often at the Artisan's Fair Market on the Whangarei Canopy Bridge on a Saturday morning, and often on a Sunday at other local markets.

Wishing you a relaxing, fun and enjoyable Christmas and holiday period. Hopefully a bit of time to relax after the pressures and time constraints this time of year often puts on individuals.
Should you have the pleasure of visiting the Artisan's Fair Market on the canopy bridge Saturday mornings in Whangarei, please do come and check out the very affordable, good value jewellery Glass Galaxy has to offer. Have a safe and happy Christmas.

The Artisan's Fair Market on the Canopy Bridge in Whangarei is one of my favourite markets. Such a friendly, entertaining place to be on a Saturday morning. Brilliant artists and artisans making a huge array on incredible food and items. It is a joy to meet and chat to people from all walks of life that stop at the Glass Galaxy stall. I plan to be on the canopy bridge regularly.
Many new designs, colours and shapes are now available here and at my Glass Galaxy market stall. I display them on facebook also and am trying to get to know Instagram but still have a lot to learn about that.
Gifts giving is often a challenge, but a large selection of jewellery, pendants and some earring available boxed, I hope we can make that selection easier for you.

Many markets in Northland are vibrant and really interesting places to attend, and one of those is The Old Packhouse Market at 505 Kerikeri Road, Kerikeri in the Bay of Islands. Glass Galaxy will have a gazebo and some new and interesting pendants and earrings to offer at The Old Packhouse Market on Saturday the 7th October 8am - 1.30pm.
Another large market in Northland is The Artisans Fair Markets on the Canopy Bridge in Whangarei. Glass Galaxy has a gazebo on Labour Weekend the 21st October 9am - 1.30pm. These markets provide entertainment and another good reason to walk The Hatea Loop.
Looking forward to both markets and hoping for fine and sunny days.
Kindest regards,
Robyn

Recently I had a request for three boxed pendants for a traveller to take overseas as gifts for their hosts. What a great idea! Glass Galaxy pendants come boxed, easy and light and small to pop into your suitcase when travelling. Pick a New Zealand design and you arrive prepared with your gifts all wrapped and ready.
Some interesting new designs as always and plans for some more feminine and pretty designs are on the drawing board. Always bringing something new and different for you.

Spring is in the air, and ten lambs in our front paddock leaped about with the joys of spring last evening which just makes you smile.
To celebrate longer days are new designs, two which are featured here, with smooth glass and black vines on red or white glass.
To see these Glass Galaxy is now in-store at the exquisite gift shop "Beautiful Things" Cameron St, Whangarei and if you are out Ruakaka way at the beach, call into Orrs Unichem Pharmacy at Ruakaka.
Of course, don't hesitate to email me for more info.

Glass Galaxy website is up and will develop further as time moves on. Each week I will update the home and gallery pages with new pendant designs. At this stage I can only offer glass pendants and a few earrings, but there is more to come.
A new venture, but one that I love doing and really value your support, shares and suggestions to make improvements along the way. Please don't hesitate to contact me with your ideas.
Yes, I will get a photograph of me up on the "About" page very soon. In the meantime I hope you enjoy window shopping on Glass Galaxy and please do follow on Instagram and Facebook. Being new to Instagram, I am still finding my way, and am delighted to have my first two followers. Yes, a bit of a joke, but we all have to start some-where.

New glass jewellery images will appear regularly on the gallery pages of www.glassgalaxy.co.nz Many people purchase a pendant as a special gift which I can box, wrap and send for you with your personal message. Keeping jewellery affordable as well as individually designed is my goal and I would be delighted if you subscribe to this blog to find out more.
As my jewellery is hand crafted I accept commissions and recently had an enquiry for same coloured glass pendants as gifts for bridesmaids. Inexpensive and exquisite, they are the perfect gift.
I invite you to join me,
Robyn
